03/2026 - Behind every successful transport solution is a strong team

At DB Cargo Czechia, our Service Design specialists have been the backbone of planning and optimizing our customer services for a long time.

Today, we are proud to see them take on the expanded role of Key Account Managers  – bringing their expertise even closer to our customers.

It’s more than just a change of the title – it’s a shift towards deeper collaboration, stronger relationships and smarter solutions.

Congratulations to our team:

• Jana Marzec – new KAM with a focus on developing the scrap segment and key customer  growth;
• Lucie Kynická – new KAM moving scrap business forward by strengthening partnerships and identifying new opportunities;
• Soňa Nohlová – new KAM specializing in Single Wagon Load solutions with precision and flexibility;
• Jakub Marzec – new KAM leading projects in the automotive and steel industries with strong operational knowledge;
• Jan Bobocký – new KAM combining segments for Single Wagon Load and steel with a focus on reliability and performance.

12/2025 – 01/2026 The New EffiShunter Locomotive Expands the DB Cargo Czechia Fleet

At the end of 2025, DB Cargo Czechia added another modern diesel locomotive, the EffiShunter, to its fleet. The new vehicle represents the next level of gradual modernisation of traction equipment, the aim of which is to increase operational flexibility and efficiency, especially operations and regional services.

The EffiShunter locomotive is primarily intended for shunting and light tracks on main lines. Thanks to its design and technical parameters, it can also be deployed on lines equipped with the ETCS system. It is suitable for operation in areas where conventional diesel traction without modern signaling technology is being phased out. At the same time, it meets current requirements for reducing emissions and noise, which are an important aspects of operation in industrial areas and near residential areas.

The introduction of the EffiShunter locomotive into service contributes to greater reliability and availability of traction for DB Cargo Czechia’s customers. The locomotive is mainly used for shunting operations and for services where precision, operational flexibility and safe operation are essential in accordance with applicable legal regulations and the company’s internal regulations.

The new EffiShunter locomotive thus represents another concrete step by which the company responds to changing technical and operational conditions in rail freight transport and prepares for further development in the coming years.

09/2025 DB Cargo Safety Day in Bohumín

Today we met with colleagues from DB Cargo Spedkol, DB Cargo Polska and other guests at Bohumín site. The aim of the meeting was to raise awareness of safety and improve safety improvements in international transport. At the same time, we wanted to test our knowledge in the field of occupational health and safety (OHS) by presenting potential risks that may arise when transporting dangerous goods according to RID regulations. In cooperation with the Fire Rescue Service of the Railway Administration and the Fire Rescue Service of Bohumín, we jointly planned and prepared a demonstration of simulated intervention.

The firefighters demonstrated safety procedures in the event of an emergency during the transport of  dangerous goods. Two special tank wagons, which we were the first in the Czech Republic to use when training our employees and colleagues, allowed us to demonstrate a realistic demonstration of the intervention. The event also included a commented lecture on the topic of international RID transport, thanks to which we gained valuable information, became familiar with the legislative requirements and demonstrated their practical use in operation.

We are happy to be able to organize this type of event across the DB Cargo Group. We thank all our colleagues from DB Cargo Spedkol and DB Cargo Polska, rescuers and partners for their excellent professional cooperation and commitment. Safety always comes first.

06/2025 Rail Business Days 2025 with DB Cargo Czechia

When tradition meets modernity – Rail Business Days 2025 with DB Cargo Czechia!

Our company DB Cargo Czechia offered an unusual experience at the Rail Business Days Ostrava 2025 fair: a ride on a historic train pulled by a steam locomotive and a reminder of the connection between the railway and the industrial history of the region.

A restaurant wagon was also a part of the train, which became the main place for expert discussions and meetings with our partners.

As part of the program, our accredited training centre and our solution for the collection and distribution of single wagon loads were presented.

Alongside CZ LOKO representatives, the new EffiShunter 1000 locomotive was officially taken over.

This modern locomotive expands our fleet and supports DB Cargo Czechia's further orientation towards more sustainable and technologically advanced solutions in rail freight transport.

We would like to thank all our partners, customers and visitors for their participation and support.

05/2025 Invitation to RBD

We invite you to the DB Cargo Czechia stand at the International Railway Trade Fair and Conference Rail Business Days 2025 taking place from 10th to 12th June 2025 in Trojhalí Karolina in Ostrava. DB Cargo Czechia will present its activities at two stands at the fair. The outdoor exhibition at V04 will allow you to visit the only mobile simulator in the Czech Republic. Come to the track at stand K02 for a unique experience – a steam train ride around Ostrava to the former Ostrava mines, which we organize in cooperation with our partners CityRail a.s., PKP CARGO INTERNATIONAL a.s., and the Association of Railway Freight Carriers of the Czech Republic (ŽESNAD.CZ).

Do not miss the planned presentations on current topics of our company: the accredited training centre and the transport of single wagon shipments within the Slovakia Shuttle project.

03/2025 Extension of cooperation with VŠE

DB Cargo Czechia is extending its cooperation with the University of Economics in Prague for another 3 years. With this extension in 2025, we are already concluding 5 years of successful cooperation, as the very first memorandum was signed in November 2018.

Since then, we have organised a number of seminars and lectures for students of the Logistics minor specialization at  the Department of Logistics of the Faculty of Business Administration.

“Such cooperation not only allows us access to the talents from academic sphere, but above all creates a mutual platform for the exchange of experience between students and DB Cargo experts. We are therefore proud that this year we have agreed with the Department of Logistics to once again guide several diploma theses focusing on rail freight transport, its competitiveness compared to road transport and its overall role in current economic sphere,“  says Jan Rajnoch CEO of DB Cargo Czechia.

09/2024 A New Milestone for DB Cargo Czechia s.r.o. in Railway Transport!

After several months of preparation and thanks to the priceless support of our colleague Mrs Iryna Presniakova, we are very pleased to announce that the management of DB Cargo Czechia s.r.o. has signed a cooperation agreement with АТ „Укрзалізниця“ („Ukrainian Railways“) at the Čop/Čierna nad Tisou railway border crossing!

It is a great honor for us to join a number of operators on this key route and thus  open a new chapter in DBCCZ activities. This partnership will allow us to expand our portfolio of rail transport services and offer our customers a wider range of options.

Many thanks to the Board of Ukrainian Railways UZ and their representatives for their support and the opportunity to finalize this pivotal contract during the InnoTrans International Fair in Berlin.

09/2024 Memorandum of cooperation with the University of Ostrava

On the 23^rd September 2024 the "Partnership Memorandum" between DB Cargo Czechia s.r.o. and Faculty of Arts of Ostrava University was signed.

Thanks to our cooperation, students and graduates of the University of Ostrava can use their excellent foreign languages knowledge ​​in the field of freight rail transport and to find their future employment in the DB Cargo Group.

As DB Cargo Czechia s.r.o. we are proud to be employers of two OU graduates – Martina Konkolská and Jan Bobocký – and one student Lucie Kynická. All three are successfully continuing their careers in various departments of the company.

Congratulations and from now we look forward to continuing development of our future cooperation!

08/2024 Accredited training center

06/2024 Rail Business Days 2024: Summary and Gratitude

In June 2024, the International Railway Fair and Conference took place in Ostrava. It was a time spent in a dynamic environment with interesting people, full of enriching information and news. We would like to thank everyone who participated in the fair and be a part of group preparing our stand. Special thanks to the company management, employees and customers. We can’t wait to see you next year!

04/2024 DB Awards for Excellence and Innovation 2023

The pillars of DB Cargo's development are: Innovation, Social-Environmental Responsibility, Partnership, and Professionalism.
As representatives of DB Cargo Czechia, we are proud to win the first prize in the Partnership category for our project in the DB Awards by DBCPL.

This project, achieving the Single Safety Certificate for 4 countries (🇨🇿, 🇸🇰, 🇦🇹, and 🇮🇹 border stations) and integrating management systems, involved employees from five countries and external partners.

We're proud that the recognition highlights not just the certificate, but also the cooperation and knowledge exchange between Group companies.
Thanks to the jury and all employees involved. Special thanks to our colleagues from DB Cargo Spedkol for their leadership and collaboration during the project's challenging stages.

05/2023 Changes within the Management Board of DB Cargo Czechia s.r.o.

We are glad to inform you about following changes within the Management Board of DB Cargo Czechia s.r.o.

Effective from 13.05.2023 Jan Rajnoch takes over the position as new CEO of DB Cargo Czechia together with Kamil Witkowicz as new CFO Board Member.

Jan Rajnoch accompanied DB Cargo Czechia since its establishment in 2015 and during the last 8 years he was responsible for various positions as Project Manager, Head of Sales and safety management incl. other strategic projects. Under his supervision company successfully entered the Slovakian and Austrian market and further developed international relations with business partners.

Kamil Witkowicz joins the company as new CFO with long years of experience as Head of Finance and Controlling within DB Cargo Polska Group. With his valuable know-how and expertise company gets great manager for further investment projects and strategic management.

Our former CEO Mr. Tomasz Iwanski leaves DB Cargo Czechia after almost 8 years of hard and successful business work. He managed to develop the company from a small start-up model in 2016 into the relevant rail freight carrier employing over 100 employees in three different countries under one integrated management system. Under his management company was granted with single safety certificate in May 2023 valid for Czechia, Slovakia and Austria approved by ERA for the next 5 years.

He leaves the company, which he prepared for the next advancements not only from the strategic and cultural point of view, but mainly as well due to his personal contribution as a great leader.

We wish All three gentlemen a lot of success within their new roles and good luck with further business endeavours!

03/2021 Enlarging the fleet

DB Cargo Czechia has expanded its fleet by two shunting locomotives. After many years of operation in Poland, the locomotives returned to their country of origin: the Czech Republic.

02/2020 International loco drivers

DB Cargo Czechia s.r.o. started operations with international loco drivers between Germany and the Czech Republic in February 2020. In cooperation with DB Cargo AG, we newly deploy not only the multi-system locomotives in cross-border transport, but also the international loco drivers with valid certificates in the Czech Republic and Germany.
